Magic Wok website completed

Magic Wok are a Chinese takeaway based in Oulton Broad, Suffolk. They specialise in Cantonese and vegetarian cuisine and have an extensive variety of dishes.

Magic Wok came to us wanting their own modern website with an online ordering system to benefit their customers. We have also built in the ability for Magic Wok to update the menu themselves to keep the website current, and have given the ability to view and reprint orders.

Custom Ordering System

The custom ordering system is PHP and Javascript based and allows customers to add menu items to the cart, add special requests to items and ask for the order to be delivered or collected. The customer then receives a conformation email regarding their order – and it is sent to Magic Wok to be cooked.

Thermal Receipt Printer

Arguably one of the most useful features is the Epson thermal receipt printer that we have installed Magic Wok’s kitchen. The order is printed, along with order type, customer notes and customer name and address. The printer is connected to the internet and talks directly to the order system on the website, printing in the kitchen, meaning there is no delay in getting it started – improving efficiency. Technically the system works by the server generating the order as a custom XML file. The printer calls the server every 5 seconds looking for XML files. Once it is printed, the XML file is then moved to a completed folder, enabling the ability to reprint it when required.

Bootstrap

The Magic Wok website is based on the Bootstrap framework. The main benefit of using Bootstrap is that it is responsive, using a 12 grid system. This enables smooth and effective scaling for a plethora of screen sizes, meaning that the website works great on both smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. The built in components of Bootstrap make it quick and easy to create a fantastic looking, uniform website, with fresh typography, buttons and forms. Read up more about Bootstrap here.
